BLACK NOISE
No, It’s not because we’re Black.
While studying at NYU, Jacob Augustin and Guy-Paul Ramón Delisfort were separately working on short films with the same lead, Jonathan Lorenzo Price. Eventually they were introduced, and Guy-Paul decided to help the inexperienced actor turned filmmaker produce his short film. It was called White Noise. It followed Jonathan’s character, Virgil, trying to remain authentic to his artistic voice while a white industry worked to corrupt it.
After the production of the film, Guy-Paul and Jacob began to write scripts together for Jonathan to act in. They decided to create a production company. Guy-Paul thought about Virgil’s character, and how despite the white noise that surrounded him, he always stayed true to the black noise that drove him. He sent the name to Jacob. Black Noise. It stuck.
Jacob was working on a play at the time and his assistant director, Paloma Avila, became a prime candidate to help bring the company to life. A strong, focused, cool kid is just what the two nerds needed. Black Noise became real. By the power of will, and friendship.
